Oxy® Proxy Extension for Chrome

Oxy® Proxy Extension is a proxy management extension for Chrome. It's free and works with any proxy provider of your choice.

This quick guide shows how to integrate Oxylabs Residential Proxies.

Setup

1

Download and click the extension icon to open the application.

2

Click the +Add new proxy button.

3

A new tab will open up where you can set up your proxy profile.

Fill in the details as follows:

Name

Project name

Protocol

HTTP or HTTPS

Domain

pr.oxylabs.io

Port

7777

Username

customer-USERNAME

Password

PASSWORD

4

Click Save changes.

You can also use random country-specific entries. For example, if you enter us-pr.oxylabs.io as the Domain and 10000 as the Port, you’ll acquire a US exit node.

5

Open the extension as shown in the first step and click Connect.

That's it. You're now using proxies with automatically rotating IP addresses.

Static sessions

Sticky country-specific entries allow you use the same IP address for up to 10 minutes. For example, if you enter us-pr.oxylabs.io as the Domain and 10001 as the Port, you’ll receive the US exit node with a sticky session.

Additionally, you can control your sessions by assigning a random alphanumeric string to the sessid- parameter. This parameter must be appended to your username, for example, customer-USERNAME-sessid-123:

With this approach, you can use the same IP address for up to 30 minutes by adding the sesstime parameter, for example: customer-USERNAME-sessid-123-sesstime-30.

After saving the changes, open the extension window and connect to the newly created proxy.

Global bypass list

If you don't want to use proxies when accessing specific websites, you can add them to the bypass list. Open the extension, click Manage proxies, and then open the Global Bypass List.

For example, if you want to skip using proxies for https://ip.oxylabs.io/, you should enter the address like this: https://ip.oxylabs.io or ip.oxylabs.io. Once you visit this site, you should see your regular IP address instead of a proxy IP.

Common errors

Use the troubleshooting steps outlined below to fix common extension errors when using Oxylabs or other providers' proxies.

Proxies not connecting

Try disconnecting and re-connecting your proxies in the extension. If the issue persists, move on to the next step below.

Incorrect proxy credentials

Verify the proxy username and password you've entered are correct and match the credentials assigned by your proxy provider.

For Oxylabs Residential Proxies, ensure you're using the proxy user's username and password you've created in the Oxylabs dashboard. You can always edit these credentials in the dashboard by going to My ProductsDatacenter Proxies Users.

Invalid username without appending customer-

Oxylabs Residential Proxies require you to append the customer- string to your proxy user's username. For example, if your username is john_TFTdL, then you must enter your username as customer-john_TFTdL.

Invalid proxy domain or port

Make sure you're using a valid proxy domain and port number as assigned by your proxy provider.

A valid domain address for Oxylabs Residential Proxies is pr.oxylabs.io and port 7777. Check the valid ports in our documentation by visiting the country-specific entry points and sticky entry points pages.

Proxy port out of range

Verify you've entered a proxy port that isn't out of range. For Oxylabs Residential Proxies, refer to these lists of country-specific entry points and sticky entry points.

Extension not working

If the extension is not working for some reason, try uninstalling and re-installing it through the Chrome web store or browser settings.

Disable third-party VPN

Turn off a third-party Virtual Private Network (VPN) if you're using it. It may conflict with the Oxy® Proxy Extension.

This guide is also available for Datacenter Proxies, ISP Proxies, Mobile Proxies, Enterprise and Self-Service Dedicated Datacenter Proxies.

You can also check out our free Oxy® Proxy Manager app for Android. It allows you to easily add and manage proxies as well as switch between multiple IPs with a simple one-click connection.
