# Location & ISP Info

We use the [MaxMind GeoIP2](https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip2-databases) database to determine IP location.

To access an IP with a specific location, you do not need to provide any additional parameters. Simply send a request to the port associated with the desired location's assigned IP.

### ISP provider and ASN checking

We understand that you may need to verify the network provider of your ISP IPs. Some databases can show inaccurate data for the ISP provider or ASN because they often display the original IP address owner rather than the network where the IP is currently announced. To ensure you have the most accurate, real-time data, we recommend checking your chosen ISP provider and ASN data in the [RIPEstat](https://stat.ripe.net/) database. It reflects the current internet announcement status of the IP.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/proxies/dedicated-isp-proxies/self-service/location-settings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
