# Setting up your first product

This guide starts once you have an Oxylabs account.

Every product follows the same three-step pattern: get access, connect, and send your first request. Access differs slightly across products, and they're grouped below by pattern accordingly. For how the credit balance, welcome credit, and plan changes work, see [How pricing and billing work](https://developers.oxylabs.io/help-center/most-popular-questions/custom-pricing-or-a-free-trial).

### [Residential Proxies](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/proxies/residential-proxies), [Mobile Proxies](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/proxies/mobile-proxies), [Web Unblocker](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/web-unblocker), and [Agent Browser](#residential-proxies-mobile-proxies-web-unblocker-and-agent-browser)

You'll get a username and password. No need to choose quantity or country when creating the instance.

1. **Get your access.** Go to the dashboard, choose the product, and select **Create instance**. You're required to name the instance before you can confirm it. Your username and password are generated as soon as you do.
2. **Connect.**

**Residential Proxies** – open the Endpoint Generator, choose a location, and set a sticky or rotating session.

**Mobile Proxies** – connect through a single endpoint. With proxies pre-checked automatically, there's no IP list to import.

**Web Unblocker** – add the single Web Unblocker endpoint to your code.

**Agent Browser** – connect your tool. Puppeteer, Playwright, CDP, and MCP clients such as Claude are all supported.

3. **Send your first request.** Add the endpoint to your script and run it. For Agent Browser, this means launching your session and starting to collect data.

Optionally, set a spending limit for the instance during creation. This caps how much of your shared credit balance it can draw each billing cycle.

Residential Proxies and Mobile Proxies also support IP allowlisting. See [How can I whitelist IPs?](https://developers.oxylabs.io/help-center/products-and-features/how-can-i-whitelist-ips) for details.

### [ISP Proxies](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/proxies/isp-proxies), [Dedicated ISP Proxies](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/proxies/dedicated-isp-proxies), [Datacenter Proxies](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/proxies/datacenter-proxies), and [Dedicated Datacenter Proxies](#residential-proxies-mobile-proxies-web-unblocker-and-agent-browser)

You'll need to choose an IP type, quantity, and country before you can access it.

1. **Get your access.** Go to the dashboard, choose the product, and select **Create instance**. You're required to set the IP type, name the instance, and enter the quantity before you can confirm it. Your username and password are generated as soon as you do. You can also set a country and, for Dedicated ISP Proxies, an ASN provider, if needed.
2. **Connect.** Use the endpoint generated from your instance.
3. **Send your first request.** Add the endpoint to your script and run it.

Datacenter Proxies and Dedicated Datacenter Proxies also support IP allowlisting. See [How can I whitelist IPs?](https://developers.oxylabs.io/help-center/products-and-features/how-can-i-whitelist-ips) for how to manage this later.

### [Web API](https://developers.oxylabs.io/products/web-api)

You'll get an API key instead of a username and password.

1. **Get your access.** Go to the dashboard, choose Web API, and select **Create instance**. You're required to name the instance before you can confirm it. Your API key is generated as soon as you confirm it.
2. **Connect.** Build your request. Choose a target and location, then request raw HTML or structured JSON.
3. **Send your first request.** Run the request and get your data back.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://developers.oxylabs.io/help-center/most-popular-questions/setting-up-your-first-product.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
